I recently ran an experiment that completely changed how I look at editing and maybe how I’ll deliver my photos in the future.

📸 The Setup

For this test, I used five bracket HDR photos with no flash and all natural light. One exterior and one interior from a recent shoot. I sent the same brackets to my human editor, ran them through Fotello’s AI editing platform, and also edited them myself using my own Lightroom presets.

I’ve been shooting real estate for nine years, building multiple six-figure photography businesses from scratch. I’ve taught people all over YouTube how to edit real estate photos, but the truth is when your schedule fills up, you can’t do every edit yourself anymore.

⚡ The Exterior Test

I showed all three edits side by side without labels.

My editor’s version wasn’t bad. It looked solid overall but had that typical HDR look: flatter shadows, less realism. A clean sky, good exposure, but nothing that really stood out.

On interiors, I thought this one would be obvious, but again, the results were closer than I expected.

AI: Great color and exposure, but slightly over-shadowed woods. Still very usable.
Editor: Solid baseline, but I usually have to go back in and tweak blacks, contrast, and brightness.
Me: My interior preset still wins here for warmth and tone, but the AI took only ten seconds compared to three minutes for me and overnight for my editor.
