My Top 3 Hacks for Real Estate Video Editing

When you’re shooting real estate videos, you don’t always have perfect conditions. Sometimes you have to raise your ISO. Sometimes a pool light flickers through an otherwise great shot. And if you’re recording an agent speaking, there’s usually some dead space to clean up.

These are three DaVinci Resolve tools I use to deal with those problems and speed up my edits. Each tutorial below walks through a real example.

1. Clean Up Grainy Footage

I don’t bring big lights into every real estate shoot. It’s usually just me and my camera, so sometimes I have to bump up the ISO to get the shot.

That can leave distracting noise, especially in darker areas like cabinets and shadows.

In this tutorial, I show you how I use noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve Studio to clean up a bathroom shot from a real listing.

2. Fix Flickering Lights

This one used to drive me crazy.

You get a shot you love, bring it into the edit, and notice the lights flickering. I recently ran into this with pool footage at a beautiful property in Sherman Oaks.

The fix was surprisingly simple: find Deflicker in the Effects panel and drag it onto the clip.

In this example, that took care of it immediately. Other clips can take some adjustments, and I’ve had footage where it didn’t work as well. But it’s a tool I’m glad to have when flicker shows up.

3. Remove Pauses With Ripple Delete Silence

If you edit agent introductions, property walkthroughs with dialogue, or your own talking-head videos, you know how much time goes into cutting out pauses.

Ripple Delete Silence helps speed up that cleanup so you can get to shaping the actual video.

I still want the person speaking to sound natural. The goal is to tighten the pacing while keeping enough breathing room for the delivery to feel comfortable.

Try These on Your Next Edit

Start with whichever problem is costing you the most time. These are small fixes, but they can make a noticeable difference in how polished your final video feels.
