Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to photograph an entire 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in less than 10 minutes—and still produce professional, sellable images? As a seasoned real estate photographer with over 10 years of experience, I decided to put myself to the test.
The Setup
For this shoot, I chose my trusty Sony 12-24mm F4 lens. This particular property was a basic, empty 2,100-square-foot home. It wasn’t staged, wasn’t perfectly cleaned, and frankly, was pretty standard.
The clock started ticking, and immediately, I ran into my first minor issue: my Ray-Ban sunglasses. They blocked too much light, making it tricky to see clearly indoors. Quick note to future me—remember clear lenses next time!
Shooting Strategy
Typically, for empty homes like this, I rely heavily on corner shots. It’s a simple strategy that effectively captures rooms without requiring excessive creativity or staging. My usual shooting method involves 5-bracket HDR images, but for this rapid shoot, I stuck with 3-bracket HDR.
In this fast-paced scenario, I didn’t hold back from snapping extra angles—though I trimmed down the final selection later during editing. By the time I finished, I’d taken around 50 shots and ultimately delivered 44 photos to the client.
Real-Time Challenges
Moving swiftly meant I had to remain vigilant with my tripod, dodging walls and fixtures to avoid collisions. Despite the speed, I didn’t compromise significantly on my usual standards—aperture set at F10 and ISO around 1000, keeping quality consistent.
Admittedly, the shots themselves weren’t groundbreaking. Some were very straightforward, and others were taken solely to satisfy common real estate agent preferences—even if they weren’t my personal favorites.

Here’s the kicker: it only took me 9 and a half minutes from start to finish to shoot the entire house.
